Six possible effects of adding too much PFS

Six possible effects of adding too much PFS

When using water purification flocculants such as polyferric sulfate, the effect is not the better if the dosage of polyferric sulfate is too small. If the dosage of polyferric sulfate is too small, it will have a series of effects, as follows:

1. Polyferric put too much positive charge metal sediment to adsorb on the surface of bacterial micelles (negative charge), which changes the charge property of bacterial micelles, and increases the difficulty of mud pressing under the condition of unchanged polyacrylamide. Therefore, the dosage of polyacrylamide will increase.

2. Too much positive charge metal sediment was adsorbed on the surface of microbial micelles by adding polyferric sulfate, which weakened the effect of extracellular polysaccharides and weakened the Flocculence of microbial micelles, resulting in the fine flocs of activated sludge, which was not conducive to the later mud pressing.

3. With the increase of sludge amount, when the dosage of phosphorus removal agent is too large, the sludge production will be too high, which is also the disadvantage of its application in wastewater dephosphorization treatment compared with microbial treatment method. Excessive addition of phosphorus will make more metal phosphate in water and form more sludge.

4. When the water body turns yellow and polyferric sulfate is added excessively, because the commonly used phosphorus removal agent belongs to iron salt phosphorus removal agent, it forms too many iron ions or aluminum ions in the water, which will make the water yellow or brown.

5. PH value decreased, because PFS is a weak acid polymer agent. In the process of wastewater phosphorus removal, the increase of acid reagent dosage will strengthen the acidity of the overall water quality, resulting in the decrease of pH value.

6. Increase the difficulty of sludge treatment. When the dosage of PFS is too large, in addition to increasing the amount of sludge, inorganic metal salts in the sludge will also increase, increasing the difficulty of sludge treatment. If the dosage of iron sulfate is too small, it will affect the water quality. If the dosage of iron sulfate is too small, it will affect the water quality.
